Ray, WOW! Just WOW!! OUTSTANDING and BEAUTIFUL! You really captured the charm and rugged beauty of the old SDAE; this glorious old line holds a special place in my heart, being one of the first railroads I was able to explore as a teenager...my family used to spend 2 weeks over Christmas/New Year's school break camping & off-roading near Ocotillo, and started just after the hurricane hit in the late 70s. I explored all lengths of it from Carrizo Gorge to nearly El Centro. What fascinated me was how it carved its way through the rugged mountains, and used small trestles to cross many small gaps. I've revisited it several times since, but the last time was in the 80s...I have no idea how it looks today.
Your stone buildings & abandoned shacks are absolutely incredible; the closeup detail of the weathered wood made me feel like I was back in an old mining site or ghost town for real! I just LOVE how well you incorporate your buildings & mines into the landscape, they look REAL. The walkways & small details really bring your mining scenes to life, GOOD JOB!
Thank you for taking the time to share your building techniques with all of us via Garden Railways magazine as well; that is very generous & kind of you.
Your In-Ko-Pah Railroad is absolutely gorgeous; you have created a masterpiece!
Thank you for sharing!
Real nice, Ray. I'm always eager to see what you've done next.
