new kitbashed rolling stock
Posted by SNOWSHOE on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 4:28 PM

I finally just about completed my set of backwoods rolling stock for my Porter to pull.   I made a tender, ore car and a boxcar.  All were built from a HLW mini flat.

Dear Snow,

Is the construction material styrene? I was thinking about doing a project in balsa for indoor stock. Any thoughts on balsa vs styrene?  Much appreciated your comments.

 Best Wishes,

Great train!  Do you have a link to the thread where you or someone showed how to make those couplers? Also, do you have any more pics of your RR posted anywhere? Thanks for sharing.

The boxcar was built ontop of a Hartland Mini series flat car.  The height is 4 inches tall I forget off hand what the hartland mini flats are in dimensions.

Thanks to Vic I made the link and pin couplers from Vics plans.  They are easy to make and look great.
