To everyone:
My apologies for not replying sooner, I have quite a few distractions of late, but regardless, I thank everyone of you, for your assistance.
Near as I can find out there are a couple of people somewhere in town that do such railroading, but I have been unable to get any contact info - other than that, the closest club, is 2-3 hrs away, far enough that it will be some time before I can visit.
In addition to Grand Scales Quarterly the same people have a magazine called 7+ Railroader. GSQ mainly deals with trains 12" gauge and larger, the 7+ magazine focuses on 7.25" - 7.5" gauge equipment (the most popular gauge of rideable hobby trains). I have subscriptions to both, and publication is very sporadic... not sure how long since I've received a new issue of either.
There is one other new publication, Large Scale Railroading. They have mailed out two issues so far, I have enjoyed them both! You can check it out at http://www.largescalerailroading.com/ .
Look for a live steam club in your area, or someone with a private track... a little help & mentoring goes a long way...

Grand Scales Quarterly is another magazine you might check out. They had stopped publishing but have announced that they will resume.

Thanks, those links certainly got me pointed in the right direction.
I would recommend www.discoverlivesteam.com online, they have many links to other sites also. You also might look at www.livesteaming.com. As far as magazines go, Live Steam & Outdoor Railroading has been around a long time and is a good resource - I think that there is a link to it on the discoverlivesteam website. These should get you pointed in the right direction! I have a 12" gauge, 2.5" scale railroad, the website for it is www.nfrailroad.com if you are interested in trains that size...
Where is a good place to learn about Backyard Railroading ( you know, the kind that goes with live steam and equipment big enough to ride ) ?
