A GOOD G-SCALE STORE IN THE MILWAUKEE AREA

Good morning everyone!  My son and I are heading to the Domes in Milwaukee to see the g-scale layout.  We would like to check out a few stores that really cater to the g-scale hobby.  We are coming from Green Bay, WI, so if there are any suggestions on the way down, please include them as well.  Thanks for your help...Gundy

HI GUYS, HOPE YOU ENJOY THE DOMES.  MILWAUKEE HAS A COUPLE HOBBY STORES BUT THEY CARRY VERY LITTLE G- SCALE.  AT MOST MAYBE A COUPLE CARS.  THIS IS THE CASE FOR GREENFIELD NEWS AND HOBBY.  THEN THERE'S HIAWATHA HOBBIES IN WAUKESHA, BUT RIGHT NOW THERE'RE IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING LOCATIONS.  THEY HAVE A LITTLE MORE INVENTORY IN G-SCALE.  IF YOU WOULD WANT TO DRIVE 11/2 HOURS MORE GO TO ST. AUBIN STATION IN WOODSTOCK, IL.  ADDRESS IS 11100 RT. 176.  PHONE [phone].  THEY HAVE AN EXCELLENT INVENTORY IN EVERYTHING, CARS, ENGINES, TRACK, EVERYTHING.  I DO MOST OF MY PURCHASES THERE FOR IT'S ONLY 45 MINUTES FROM MY LOCATION.  HAVE FUN.

I'll second St. Aubins.  Looks like a little shack of a place from the outside, and you have to fight the Illinois drivers to get there, but it is well worth it.  Amazing inventory.  The prices on their website are the same as in store, so you can have some sort of idea before going.

St Aubin's is always at Trainfest in Milwaukee each November as well.  If they don't have an item at the show, they will ship it to you for free.

Otherwise, there is always Walthers in Milwaukee, but it's all priced at retail, and it's more of a warehouse - i.e. not much to look at without sending someone into the warehouse to get it for you.

 Sommerfeld's Trains in Butler (right off of Hwy 45) has some large scale, though not a lot. You might call and see what they have in stock. Here is their web site: http://www.sommerfelds.com/

Thanks to all for your help in giving me some great ideas.  We ended up not going, because of the potential winter storm that was approaching.  I'm glad we didn't, because we were dumped on in Green Bay.
