I am getting shorts using crossovers trying to run two trains. I think the issue is insulating pins...I got none with the track i got of ebay. I am very new and from my experience with dc, which is very little could i get a little basic instruction on how to install a crossover? Thanks Captainwoodie
If you are using track power you may need an insulator(s) on the rails of the switches crossing between the two through lines. Aristo and LGB make soft plastic slip on insulators (LGB may be hard to get), Hillman and Split Jaw make screw type insulators. However when I have a situation where two insulators are adjacent I make one a screw type to keep the track from separating. More details are needed to delve further.
Hope this helps, Rob
