Thanks I'll try that tomorrow and let you know.  I really don't know what else to do and I hate the thoughts of taking it somewhere to have someone look at it because I'm afraid that is going to cost a fortune.

Idea that might be worth a try. My 2017 has an intermittant short on the headlight wiring (It was either pinched against the weight inside the body during shipping, or I nicked them when I kitbashed it)... try gently pulling/pushing/ twisting on the wires for the headlight right where they come out of the smokebox and see if it helps.

THEY WILL USUALLY JUST WIPE OFF GOOD.  THE LIQUID FOR SMOKE CANBE USED AS A CLEANER.  I HAVE ALSO USED WD-40 ON THE PICK-UP SHOES.  DON'T USE THE WD-40 TO CLEAN THE TRACK FOR IT WILL LEAVE A RESIDUE.

They seemed to be at first glance, but I didn't do a real close exam. I'll check that.  What is the best thing to clean the pickups?

 Thanks for the advice.

Just an idea, did you check the power pick-ups to make sure they didn't get messed up?  Also, are the pick-ups clean as well as the track?

Newbie needs LGB help
Posted by cbower2 on Saturday, February 21, 2009 1:48 PM

I'm very new to the garden railroad thing put I've decided to jump in with both feet.  I bought two LGB sets and extra track on Ebay and they worked find unitl today.  The one (model 2020) just seemed to stop on me.  It trips the circuit breaker on the transformer as soon as I go to power it up.  If I take that engine off and put another engine (also LGB) on the track it goes no problem.  The model 2020 was working fine but it got bumped off the track my the neighbor and when I stick it back on, nothing.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
