Hello,, I am new to this forum but not new to scratch building railroad buildings I have been scratch building for 20 + years. I thought I would share a very simple way to make galvanized roofing. First save all those aluminum pie pans you get when you buy pies at the store. Them go to your local craft store and buy what is called a paper crimper. Cut the bottoms of the pie pans into 2 inch strips and simply feed it through the paper crimper, what comes out is a piece for galvanized roofing. for less than $20 you can make this roofing for years to come. If you would like to see this roofing go to my web site www.MrTrain.com click on my train room and look at my 2 stall engine house this is how I made that roof and it looks like the real thing. If everyone liked this tip let me know and I will share more tips on scratch building that I have learned over the last 20+ years. Thank you for reading.. Alan

Mr. train, Do you think you could run thin copper through this same paper crimper? I 've been thinking of a way to make standing seem copper roofing.

Would like to know how to make the aluminum sheeys to lie flat after they have been run through the cripper. I am having trouble with it staying flat all it wants to do is bend up or down and not stay flat. Have run it through cripper a few times but this dose not seem to work ????

OK GUYS
Heres the secret to perfect corrigated roofs.
Instead of cut up soda can or pie tins which are too thick for the crimper, look for metal rolls by KS Engineering. www.ksmetals.com
I got mine at my LHS but craft stores like Micheals should carry it also
I use Soft Aluminum .005 thick 36 gauge 12" x 30" roll stock #6025
and MATT, they also make
Thin Copper
.003 thick 40 guage 12" x 30" roll stock #6015.
this stuff goes thru the crimp roller in ONE EASY PASS! no multiple passes. Glue it down with silicon adhesive.
I'm serious guys. I started by doing what everyone else did until I found this stuff, I'll never use anything else again.
Have fun with your trains
