I am in the South Western peninsular of England where there were large quantities of snow on the northern side of the peninsular which faces South Wales and to the east and north-east of here but we had no snow at all.  There is no plow on my RR inventory - it it unlikely it would be used.

At last its stopped snowing over here, I have managed to dig out the track itis under 18 inches of snow some of the frozen blocks of snow I had to move where about as much as I wanted to lift.  But its going to be a few weeks before im up and running will need to rebalest most of the layout and ground now is flooded we need a week of sun to dry it out. Still looking on the bright side we must get a good spring and summer.

Yeah, except 80% of those with 4WD don't know it's limitations or how to use it!

Like going up the Garden State Parkway in a winter storm and you're moving at a good 35-40 and the idiots go by you at better than 60; 5 miles further on you pass them in the ditch.   They forget that it don't matter if you have 32 wheel drive, it don't help you stop on ice!    I've seen them cause a lot of accidents, and about half of the ones they caused didn't involve thier cars!

I have to say up here in North West NJ they are on top of things. W e can get 20 inches of snow and have the roads wet by the time the strom ends.  Thats just the way of life up here.  The plows stay on the trucks from nov through March.  If we get a big storm we know by the next morning we ca get out to the stores and work.  Plus 4 wheel drive vehicles are  a must up here.

It seems like the folk on the other side of the pond use the same system they used in Wildwood, NJ when I lived on that side "The Lord put it there and The Lord can take it away!"

two tone:  Just watched the nightly news, about your snow.  One of your politicians (didn't catch his name) said "it does not make sence to spend money for something that happens every few years." (or at least words to that effect.

 What ever happened to multi-use vehicles. When I lived in Kansas, yes we had snow every year, but we had plow blades that sat on the ground all year long,  When the snow fell, we would drive our dump trucks up to the blades, hook up and start pushing snow within the hour.

Hi Rene,   Not very often this is why our country grinds to a halt when it snows. We do not prepair for this sort of thing our goverment does not like spending money on equipment they always look at things short term

I read an online article about the snow this morning. I had no idea that things would shut down like that. How often do you get snow there?

Well it is pretty much the same here in the Peak District... I was supposed to be in Paris and of course I have had to cancel. Still it is nice here by the fire!!! I got to Derby Midland and found that St P Int had closed.... Never mind back home nice BIG mug of tea and more toast and marmalade.

Well its arrived the snow in the UK only 6-8 inches but all ready the country has ground to a halt no trains no buses no aircraft.  What a sad state of affers, we must be the only country in europe that can not cope with a bit of snow.
