I have been using XtrkCad for a month or so and it seems to be working out real well.  I am trying to plan my first layout.  Thought I should try out different ideas on the computer before I start ordering track.  Have already decide to move to a different part of the yard.  Has some of a learning curve but the price is right, free!  Also a user group on yahoo for help and info.

Can anyone recommend a good software program for designing  train layouts on the computer? This is something I've always wanted to do and could use some help getting in the right dierection.
