During the very early ninties, Bruce Bates designed and produced a model called the "Little Ugly Diesel" sold exclusively (my understanding anyway) through Garden Railways Magazine. Surfing Ebay recently, I found one. I had seen them in articles before and kinda wanted one. I was going to scratch bulid one, but now I have the real thing. The kit was originally made from plexiglass. If you're NOT a tree hugger, you KNOW that plastic does INDEED deteriorate over time. All of the plastic pieces are very brittle and old. So with that, I disassembled it so that I can reincarnate it in basswood. Several of the pieces were already broken and had been glued back together, indicative of past reassemblies. It has a tin roof and hood, which I will be reusing. Of course I will retain the cool drive unit with dual chain drive. Stay tuned. This is gonna be cool.

Department of Family and Children Services has placed our grand daughter with us temporarily because my step daughter just ain't livin right. This will be a cheap and easy project though, and as I'm able to get out for materials, yall will see some action. GDS: One other question.
