Here are some pictures of the new church I just built. I even enlisted help from my parents who were visiting from Oregon over Thanksgiving. They did all the stained glass (14 windows). Building is a lot more fun when you have help!

That's beautiful, Rex. That IS a Methodist church.....right???? LOL
Wow Rex, are those windows made of glass? That's amazing if they are. I can't recall seeing a church with windows like that before. How neat.

Rene,
Yes the windows are real glass. I got the "mosaic stained glass" and glue at a local hobby store. The product is from Milestones. Making the windows was just a matter of gluing the pieces onto a sheet of clear plastic and then gluing the sheet into the hole. My parents got the idea of the cross design on the one window. Looks really great at night with lights on the inside.
As for the denomiation of the church ... well we'll have to ask the church mouse.

From Blazing Saddles:
"I want you to round-up every vicious criminal and gunslinger in the west! Take this down,
I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggers, bushwhackers, hornswagglers, train robbers, s**t kickers and... Methodists!!!! "
BTW : Nice work Rex
Have fun with your trains
Great work, I'm jealous! I'm sure it will look good nestled at the edge of your forest! I see it more as a country church than a citified one!
Good stuff Rex, Joe
Rex,
Great job! Give your folks my address if they plan to visit Ohio anytime soon.
I forwarded your photos to a friend in California who does stained glass and he's wild about your church. Now if I can only get him to do one for me......... we'll see.

Walt,
A good stained glass guy would certainly not consider this much of a stained glass project. There is nothing between the pieces of glass like the lead a stained glass guy would use. I was thinking about floating some grout over the glass or maybe some plumbers putty but they look nice the way they are from the 10' view so I left them alone. It's quick and simple or you can make designs if you want to take the time. The glass comes without sharp edges but it can be trimed like you would have to do for a real project and believe me the edges are then sharp. A dremel cutting wheel makes the stuff glow red so you really have to get after it to grind it down.
Good luck with your project.
Perhaps painting the edges of the glass grey before assembly might have simulated the lead between the glass....but Rex, I agree it looks great just as is.
My wife Connie does stained glass . She has the whole studio / workshop in the basement . She said she would use the copper foil method of assembly for a project similar to this one . Nice job on the church . Will look real nice outside at nite with the lights on inside showing off all that color !
Fantastic! Very nice work.
