Recycling reduces landfill mass. I am happy every time anyone finds a "second life" for anything. It is good for Mother Nature, plus it leaves additional cash for that special engine or car we want to purchase.

The only problem I have with Kaydee couplers, is the cobra look.
I love the "HO" kaydee couplers. They were made for body mounting.
Also the cost of "G" kadyees at way out of reach.
Nothing like dumpster diving, I have found a few goodie's that way myself.

The head is gray, hands don't work , back is weak, legs give out, eyes are gone, money go's and my wife still love's Me.
About the shelfs.
I was parking in the local mall. As I pasted a dumpster. I seen sheets of pexaglass sticking out.
When I looked in it. There were a lot of display shelfs and 4x5, 1/2 sheets. I cleaned it out.
I replaced wooden runners that did not look good at all.
spikejones52002 I hated the look of Aristo passenger cars with the original gap. I cut about 3/4 (not exact) from each truck coupler bar. I run on 5ft Radius curves. They still have a little gap but a lot better. I can not readjust any more. The coupler holding screw holes are to close to redrill. I really hate that Aristo cars (ALL) 12 Passenger in all are very hard to line up. The couplers look like a stair case. They are also the hardest to couple up with outer brands. It is the same with their freight cars.

First: I like your shelf, did you make it yourself.
Second: All of my convershion's are to Kaydee's and done the same way. I only use 1 screw to hold them on, I use # 1gauge offset's so I can run modified and unmodified. I've even added some weather stripping to close the gap another 1/2 inch.
gbbari Dave, what is the minimum radius curve that the modified cars will negotiate without derailing? Al

So far a 9ft Dia, I have some 6.5 setup for my ridge line I will try them on it after the sun come's up If they work on it, I will try some 5 ft diamiter next week. And I may add some small weather striping to the end's to close the gap completly.
Toad--------- that's not all I did!!
this is on a reverse cruve 6.5' diam.
This is on a 6.5 cruve.
First try at adding weather stripping.
This is a modified F3a with a un-modified coach.
Cut the couplers down.....

ttrigg Dave: The pix are fine, you just forgot to post one. You gave us the "rail-height" view from the side of the "before" but where is the "after" shot. That way we can see how you did it. (Thanks, just putzing wid ya.)
