My Vidio???
Posted by dwbeckett on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 9:15 AM

Well I know I said I would have a Vidio but the person that was to shot my vidio showed up late with a near dead battery.  And the big day was a desaster, the only thing that worked well was the OAKLEY COMET, F3a-Coach-F3a. I ran the Radier ( NFL TEAM ) Express and the only F3 black widow i have ( here ) derailed, Just like the team did sunday. The next train was Aristo connie with a modified USA Trains seairra coach. The coach NEVER made it out of the main yard before it derailed on the first switch. I finly got Raider Express running with a GP-9. AND last but not least I ran my Shay with one LGB log car and my Lionel caboose  and the whole thing was in the dirt after going thru a #6 switch running backwards. SO HOW WAS YOUR DAY.

Problem's 1. Black Widow F3a found bent power pick-up on the lead truck that was dragging on the reverse loop switch.

2. Seairra Coach This car fell 3ft durring the BIG 4.7 quake in reno this year, one of the short trucks broke, Since I don't have any spare's I desided to use some B-mann I have, I also swaped the wheels with some smallar one's that have small flange AKA Fine scale. This lowered the car to point that it matched the bottem of the tender and look perfect. After i installed the USA T wheel sets the car was fine.

3. NO DAMAGE to any of log train in fact I was luckey the Shay fell gear's up. what I found was the Caboose wheels were out of gauge that caused the caboose to ride up on the switch . before I could stop the train the caboose weged agenst the fence forceing the rest of the train off the track and into the DIRT. I have regauged the wheel's, This car has run without problems in the past, BUT without useing any switch's .

LUCKY FOR ME HIS BATTERY WAS DEAD. Next time I plan on a vidio all the trains will be tested FIRST and not assume that because one work's all the combinations will. A SAD LESSON TO LEARN. PS this is my first RR with SS switch's so far I have 7 installed 3-#6's and 4-10W and will be installing at least 2 more. All the former DNRR vershions used LGB large radious switch's or NO switchs (DNRR V-8 ).

Radier Express

Oakley Comet

Dave:

You forgot Murphy's First Law of Organization. If it can go wrong, it will, at the most inopportune time. Don't give up, get it all fixed and do it again.

So Far the Radier Express and the Oakley Comet are in tip-top order Even after I closed the gap, The Connie still derails over any closed switch. The Siarra coach is working But needs the body mounted couplers lowered since I put larger wheel sets on it,

It is enough that Jesus died and that he died for me.
