That was one of the big problems apparently, The use of white metal for the railing supports proved to be a bad one in snow country, need to be recast in brass or similar hard metal. I wouldnt use white metal here either, the summer heat would deform them in no time. the Gazette recently featured the Magnesium Monorail line that used to run thru part of Death Valley, it used a wood A-framing structure similar to the metal one the prototype in Marc's article used. Might be more durable outdoors.
