The forum is ok but because I am paying to subscribe to the magazine, I would perfer that the advertising on the righthand side were eliminated.

It's because you are paying you get all the extra's, try the forum's without logging on see what you don't get.

Dave

Leave him be Dave, it is his thoughts and that is all.

Kevin

I would like to see you brake out of your comfort zone and do a small moder diesel bash.

I mean, If I can try Live steam, you can try modern diesel.

Marty, stay tuned... It won't be modern, but I do have plans for a bash that involves something with an internal combustion engine. :)

In my reckless youth, I used to do diesels...

It's a 40-ton Whitcomb, based on a prototype owned by US Gypsum. They had clearance issues, which meant the cab was quite low. You could not stand up inside. The plans were published in the Narrow Gauge Gazette, and the author mentioned that he'd love to see it done in 1/2" scale (this was before 1:20 came into vogue). So I took the challenge.

The loco still sees fairly regular service on dad's railroad, though the siderods have been removed because something slipped in the motor block and they started to bind. One of these days, perhaps I'll get a pair of B'mann 45-tonner trucks and replace them. (That assumes, however, that I don't come up with something else to do with them instead...)

Later,

Mainly because of the heading photo and it says it all.

Adventures in outdoor model railroading.

And yes it should of had diesels in the photo , but I can live with that.

Sigh

Don't you miss looking at your own post and telling a a glance if anyone has answered any of them? If that is possibly now, I sure can't find out how.

Happy railroading

I think we was talking about the forum, not the mag..

Yeah... the photo at the top of the old web site was taken on my dad's railroad of a Delton C-16 I kitbashed. It was a nice reminder of home every time I visited.

Besides, you get to be in all the issues. must be nice....

Well, if y'all enjoy reading my column half as much as I enjoy writing it, then I guess we're in good shape. I'm always open for feedback and fodder, so if you've got thoughts to things you'd like to see covered, drop me a line.

Personally Rene it does not worry me if the background color is light or dark green but I have, over the last two years, gotten used to looking for the familiar darker color when looking on the newstands.

My preference is that the magazine continue to be produced and although it will be probably two or three weeks before I get my copy I still eagerly await its arrival at my newsagent.  Thumbs Up

Kevin, Don't worry, the "classic" shade of dark green will return with the next issue. The marketing team wanted to do something different for the anniversary issue, and all sorts of ideas were tossed around. The super-bright green was the final choice.

Personally, I was quite partial to the old one, but that could have had something to do with it being a photo of one of my locos. Smile I do, however, wish to lodge my displeasure with the neon green background on the new magazine cover. I'm all for making the magazine stand out on the newsstand, but that's taking things to the extreme. Please go back to the far classier dark green with shaded lettering. Later, K

All crap.  Any train not powered by an Atomic Ion Polarization Phase Plasma engine on hover pads is a boat anchor.

Adventures in outdoor model railroading. And yes it should of had diesels in the photo, but I can live with that.

OK; it took a couple of days to find all the buttons and make things work the way I like, but, even a new car takes a few days to learn. Diesel – No, Non, Niet, Nien. Steam – the only way to fly run the rails.
