The only pictues I can see are the ads over on the right. How about scaling them down about 25%? I can't see anyone else's pictures.
I'm rnning a Mac G5 with OSX 10.5xx. I'm using Firefox 3.0.3. Don't even see a broken box.
Tom,
I wouldn't give Bergie any grief, myownself, because he figured out that Toadster's '&' was blocking replies. Did it pretty quick, too. I figured he'd just ignore me. And I'll be the first to say the folks behind the screen are all pleasant and helpful with the very few issues of the computer stuff I've asked about.
I'm just a typical old guy: I don't like changes. I recognize this. But this new layout is good. I had my son show me how to post pictures, then I slept one night and next day, couldn't remember. Some might get distressed over that. I figure, hey, that's what I raised those kids for. I'll get him back over to show me again.
Don't bother yourself to post to show me how, I've read it and it don't make a lick of sense. Heh, I ought to post a pic on here--you all think you got problems now.... Heheh.
I remember how you had the magic numbers to show me finally how 'scale' is figured from gauge. Unfortunately, I forgot. Then my wife got new computers for her business and I lost my old files that had that in it. The conversion factor was 0.5xx, being very close or near unto 0.6, and that's what I've remembered. I mean, good gosh, I've checked the Spectrum Indie's gauge with a dial caliper and it runs out a good deal more than 0.010 from one axle to the next. I should care about a single 0.001 of an inch? If I did, I could go back to work. Not to mention the Indie's wheels, when you rotate them and measure, well, they're not exactly square to the axles.

dwbeckett I must be the only one not having problem's I can do everything I could before only faster. I do like the fact that I can Quote a user way faster and easyer then before. It loads faster for me, If you follow the directions given by Burgie you dont have problems. I am using XP with IE7 I update my software at least weekly. I am also using FREE ADOBE photoshop and FREE Photobucket for my pictures. Dave
Dave: other than having the screen jump around a bit resizing everything (just on the first day) The only problem I've had is trying to get that dastardly little spell check button to actually check my spelling. I did find the

Toad, most people my age stay away from new tecnolagy, first cell phone in 97, computer 86, portable phone ( home ) 90, wireless laptop ( Wife ) 06, 11mounth computer maintenance school 67. and the list go's on. My sister's 65 & 67 only use ATM's because it's cheaper then going in to the Bank. I use my card to set the gap's in my Rails and they don't have a computer ( Don't want one ) even though they have children in the computer industry one in A.I. and one a programer. My younger sister that past away this year ( 55 ) would not even use an ATM card. Two of my four are in computers and two of my wife's three do computer networking, the third print's ( make's ) computer boards. So when I get stuck I pick up my cell phone and call for help.

The head is gray, hands don't work , back is weak, legs give out, eyes are gone, money go's and my wife still love's Me.
I'm not having anything I'm considering a problem, either. As I said in a previous post, I can tell it is just a touch slower to load, but that's it. I like the new forum. I think they did a good job.

I thought I was the lone G ranger with slow loading, etc. Truth, I never noticed the columns of ads on the side. Shades of Yahoo, can we say?
I'm not complaining. I want to say that I joined the forum to talk about LS trains. I did not join to switch browsers (IE7.0 + all latest upgrades running latest Windows Home +SP4) to learn new key codes to look cool 'n sophisticated, to try to remember what version of what program I'm running or to be distracted by software issues. I'm a retired machinist. I'm old too--got here the hard way, one day at a time--and I don't want to futz around with computer related stuff.
I hope it gets resolved.
Camaro1967 want to complain about the pictures. Because the page is shrunken due to a column of advertisements, the pictures are quite small. I know I can click on them and they only become slightly bigger, and the ads are STILL there.
That's odd, when I click an image to make it larger, the image opens in a new window without ads. What browser are you using?
Erik
Ray DunakinFirst, as others have mentioned the new forum is terribly slow. Second, when I post, the software eliminates all the carriage returns between paragraphs, causing everything to run together into one big, ugly paragraph. Third, due to a computer hiccup, I accidently created two identical posts, but I can't delete the duplicate post.
1. We're making some adjustments that will hopefully improve the forum speed.
2. What browser are you using? The elimination of carriage returns sounds similar to a problem another user was having with IE8. If you're using IE8, try jumping back to IE7.
3. Provide a link to the duplicate post and I'll remove it.
Thanks for the feedback.

Hey guys:
cabbage The bulk of the problem I feel is ……. is the speed of the feed …. ralph
Ralph:
I say that
Ralph,
Had no idea you cared so much!
Thought you still was in the corner of the dark room screaming your head off???!!!!
The bulk of the problem I feel is not the design of the new pages or the forum software -but it is the speed of the feed to the internet that no-one seems to have looked at seriously. As stated elsewhere I am fortunate to have a dedicated 144Mb sat line to my office and a 20mb line to my desktop. My computer runs at about 2 Gigs and has 2 CPUS with about 10 Gigs of Ram. Most of which I do use when I am drawing up my designs (250Mb CAD files are small ones!)
This allows me to up and down load files and video conference with my customers overseas -this is afterall how I designed it to work!!!
My own personal web site is stripped down to the bare minimum of JPEGs that have to be loaded, most of them you "request" by clicking on the link -otherwise they remain dormant. It might be an interesting task for the Kalmbach ITC group to examine the amount of data sent down their line before and after the upgrade... If the amount of data is very much larger then I would suggest that the ITC group speak to the design staff and the sales dept!!!
regards
ralph
I notice the forum is a tad slower, but not so much that it bothers me. Yes, I'm certain all the images are the reason it is slower. I may be wrong here, but I think their intention was to make this look kinda like an online magazine. To that end, they hit the mark. I actually like all the changes. I think they did a nice job. I'm sure if something is a miss on their end as to the load speed that they will address it as necessary. It's not even a week old. Let's give them a chance.
Guys just made ya'll my "Friends".......woooohoooo

ttrigg When you click on someone’s name to look at their profile, there is a link where you can "Make Xxxx Xxxxx a friend". What does that do? Anyway, I thought we were already friends! Ray, I just made you a "freind" tell me if it does anything on your end.

What is a "source" for this one?
What happened with font size control and color?
