Fall is officially here out my way. Leave are at peak co.or and the days are getting shorter-less time to run trains. Im sure for some colors are past peak. Now I cant wait to run some trains in the snow. Here is a tast of fall for those in the southern climates. pictures never do justice they are from Stokes SF by my house enjoy
Ahh, yes, the colors of fall. Here in Southern California we have a slightly different set of colors for fall.
Black for the trees ablaze, dark grey for the trees just dumped upon by the air tankers (just to the left of the "rabbit" bird feeder) blaze orange reaching 50~80 feet into the air, (just to the right of the big tree on the left, you gotta look hard to see it in this pic.) white, the color of someones house (betweeen the big tree on the left and the tree to the right). And ofcourse safety flouresent orange, the color of the birds in flight above the flames.
This fire is Marine Corps Camp Pendleton in and aroung the housing areas, and is headed toward civilian housing just off base.
Here is a vid of the "super scoopers" drinking up 1,600 gallons of the Pacific Ocean to put into the flames.

Snowshoe, it's time for my canoeing trip to the Pine Barrens...but I can't do it this year; I'm laid up with a deep vein blood clot...No more garden railroading this fall, either. Bummer.

Tom,
Great clip, it is amazing that it doesn't rip the bellies right out of those aircraft when they fill up amongst the ocean swells. Be it fixed or rotary wing those guys got brass ones, hats off to them and all the firefighters on the lines, .
