From Toy Train to Model Train
Posted by vsmith on Saturday, October 11, 2008 6:42 PM

I bought an old battery toy train set a couple years ago off Ebay called a Big Bird Express, which featured a cheepie battery powered engine, two ore care and 3 plastic Sesame Street charecters riding in them, I repainted the ore cars but the engine remained a tough one to figure what to do with it so it sat around in a box for the last 2 years until I thought about doing one more Mack bash with the last remaining spare chassis I had. I figured an open cab locomotive would be the best doable bash for this lokie.

A litttle testing revealed it was a perfect fit,

....and away we go!

Cab cut and trimmed, interior begun,

Cab almost complete

Painting underway right now, just basic black. Still a few little trim bits to add...

PS if this Sesame Street set was actually worth anything, please DONT tell me, OK? Wink [;)]

Vic:

You need to get up out from behind the workbench and start on the benchework!  Stop building Mack Bashes and get some track in position.  Then those bashiees will have a place to run.

Tom, both the benchwork and the track are done. I just having a hard time to start scenery. I can do workbench stuff early in the morning and late night when I have free time thats why I'm still doing these projects, but alas I'm almost run out of parts to do new projects.

Just "putzing" with you my friend! I for one enjoy watching you build these little goodies. I just could not pass up the chance to use the words "workbench & benchwork" in one sentence.

Almost looks like a WWI attempt to build a combat tank! Armor plating reaches to the ground (rails)  All tight and compressed as if it needed to fit in tight spaces. (Narrow european city streets)  It is very different from anything else I've seen, interesting and puzzling at the same time.  A real workout for the visual portion of the brain receptors.  Well done!

Doubt they will let you do that Vic.  That would mean they would need to find a bigger building.  Ontario Convention Center might not be large enough for all your "mackiebashies"!Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Clown [:o)]
