I have some experience with these decoders and I think Nick is about right, maybe. QSI makes a plug-n-play decoder that installs in this loco and it is great but that one doesn't work with the TE. Aristocraft sells a QSI decoder that has been modofied to work with the TE. I suspect you bought the wrong decoder. You should ask about your problem on the Aristocraft forum. Probably get more help there. http://www.aristocraft.com/
Hi, 1st you can not use a TE to sound the horn or bell, you need a power pack with a direction switch you can flick fast to make them come on and off. 2nd you cannot run a loco with a qsi decoder with out the other engine being equipt with the same decoder, they will run at different speeds because QSI has built in momentum.

I have a Aristo-Craft Dash 9 with a QSI Quantum sound decoder using TE on track power. The manual for the sound says to reverse the diriction switch to sound horn/bell but only stops engine and reverses direction without sound. Also when coupled with a SD45, the SD45 will spin wheels until the dash 9 starts moving. No sound in the SD45. (My power is, power supply thru TE to track). Does anyone know how to get the horn/bell to work with my power setup in the dash 9 and is there is a way to get the (2) engines to run together with there setup. Thank you. Rich
