I have a LGB 2028D mogul locomotive with the wood car and three additional cars. The track layout will be roughly 8' X 11' (outside, aristocraft brass narrow guage). Pretty simple oval. What is the correct size powepack I should use and must it be an LGB product, although I 've heard LGB is the best. I appreciate your feedback and assistance.
All the Best,
Bernie
Any of the power supplies advertised in Garden Railways will be adequate for what you're looking to do. If you're just running one locomotive on a small railroad, there's no reason to have to buy the high-end power supplies--any of the smaller ones will suffice. You may find that the power supplies that come in "typical" starter sets to be a bit underpowered.
Having said that, when I first started in large scale, the only power supplies really available were basically HO-scale power supplies. They worked well for the smaller locos like the LGB mogul. There are better options available today.
