I used to raise feeder pigs back prob'ly when you were in diapers. That's why I chose that moniker. I'm old, dude, this was in the sixties. But, hey, I'll raise a brew to you ... drat it, I've gotta go downstairs to get another! Big Smile [:D]

Les

Les,

Yeah I am that old! We had pigs for food and cows for food but the horses are for the ranching. After about 8 I was driving Stingers disking up fields but before that I was driving a T-20 Massy cuttn grass! I started Dipping and Chewing when I was 4. So yeah I am a old school guy.

Nay, less'n my mind's worse than I think it is. (Pretty bad). I do believe and state that you have posts naming Bachmann's engine conversions 'bug maulers'. These are found in conjunction with radical modifications to same, which I slaver at, but that's another topic. I leave it to archivists to prove me wrong.

Also, I've often wondered if you weight your engines to improve traction? I--heck, I'm full of questions--but weighting engines seems a very good thing to improve traction. Of course, the motors won't last as long. But with the plethora of R/C cars in garage sales out there, is that a problem?

Yup. I got that off Vic. A Bachmann 4-6-0 (at least, that's what I got off eBay, might have more but they're missing. I view them as parts sources as the PGSL will never carry--well, might not carry--eight drivers around 24" radii--reliably, a question I intend to broach to Cabbage (Ralph) at the proper time. If I ask him now, I'll forget his answer. But I've seen photos of NG logging lines that included short lengths of rail on curves to give the blind drivers something to ride on. I've got to get tracks down and see what works. At any rate, if you have any steam critters, I'd like pixes of 'em. I got the one you posted.

Oh, FWIW, I loathe and despise passenger operations. Let them suckers ride the rails, is my notion. Eight Ball [8]

Les

Um, footnote: I 'L&D' passenger ops on the PRSL. Others can do as they see fit.

Sounds like a strong partnership.  Looking forward to looking at pix of construction.

Shouldn't you have said "now the Pig River SL is a wee wee wee?  (just poking a bit of fun.)

Ah, Trigg, I've got broad shoulders--and you've been very helpful over the past year. Thumbs Up [tup]

I had a really nice thing happen today: my son, 26, is helping me install a furnace for his grandmother who lives in an attached apartment to our house.

During a break, he happened to notice an old copy of NG&SLG and picked it up. I told him about my upstairs RR that's hung in the planning stage for a year now. He's got an artistic streak. Before I quite knew it, we were upstairs and I was showing him the stuff I've been gathering, including an LGB loco, a Lionel 0-6-0 and a Bug Mauler, the last two to be rebuilt for SL use.

The next thing I knew, 'We' had a RR. I am very pleased, because I don't particularly care for building structures; figuring out and solving mechanical, electrical, actuators for animation, and the like is the thing I like best. My wife's already agreed to to the airbrushing/painting/landscaping--she's a professional artist--and my son will fit right in with the trackside stuff, plus putting up a website, photography, etc. He's also a machinist, so he understands the mechanical stuff, it just doesn't turn him on like building a building. So I gave him a handful of old mags when he went home. We didn't get much furnace work done.

Another person to join the hobby.

So, now the Pig River SL is a 'we'.
