G-scale track question

I want to put 8ft diameter curves in a G-scale setup for a Bachmann Ringmaster set. My understanding is that Bachmann doens't make that diameter curved track, so I'm wondering if I will have to buy all new track to use that diameter curve, or can I still use Bachmann track on the straight sections. This will be an elevated track, so noone will actually see the track being used.

Dump that Bachmann junk track! Its only good for display. Yuo will have to buy new track for 8foot diameter curves but you will find it impossible to connect Bmann track to Aristo, LGB USA or any other solid track. Not to mention its pure junk. Its flimsy hollow metal with little metal tabs like old lionel track that make it impossible to connect with any other track. Did I mention its pure junk? Buy good track and you'll be a lot happier. I suggest Aristo/USA track for curves and straights, they have little screws that tie each railjoiner together for a great electrical connection, and LGB switches, even though they are the most expensive I have found they are the MOST trouble free, no stalls, no derails, no headaches like I have had with aristo switches. Buy the longest straight section to save money and get better electrical conductivity.

My son's room is 10.5'x16 and I'm guessing I'll need about 55-60 feet of track. What should I budget? The Bachmann train will run on any g-scale track, right??

Dave Zee, I told you you would get a quicker response over here. The answer

to your question is yes. Alot of people in this forum run bachman on aristocraft , LGB, Etc. track. The people in this forum I found to have an abundance of great information.

You were right. Matt. I'm glad I listened to you... My next dilemna is the classic one for every hobby I've ever participated in: Do I buy online/mail order and save some money, or do I support my local hobby shop, and not feel guilty about getting advice face to face. What would you do?

Davezee, Do both, Compare prices and shop accordingly. I like supporting the local hobby shops when I can, they are a bit of a drive for me. I do sneek in an occasional visit during my work day. Lets face it buying online is great if you add shipping in and such. look in Garden Railways for adds. When you get going I'm sure you'll need this or that so your local hobby shop gets your buisness to. I myself sometimes just get impatient and would rather spend a few extra bucks for having it NOW.

Murphy's Law - What ever it is you need in order to finish, their out of or don't carry so you'll have to order it anyways and wait forever to finish.[:D]

Well I'm back from holidays in Bali, this is a fairly big island and they do not have a single train nor any track. However I did find a place that makes terrific signs out of mahogany and they are very cheap. The food and drink is very cheap and very good I purt on 4 Kg ( 9 pounds) in two weeks.

I must agree that LGB track is and poinys are terrific but I do not like using discreet sections of rail with discreet curves. I much prefer to assemble and bend my own from brass sections nd plastic sleeperds (ties).
