Okay I cant remember where I posted about this loco before but heres the back story incase anyone missed it the first go round, It started its life as a Bachmann undecorated anniversary 4-6-0 I got it off ebay 2nd hand and got half a year of good use out of it before the motor crapped out. Used the lower half from one of my Big Hauler's I was using for parts to bring it back to life, It still has all of the anniversary detail parts with the exception of the valve gear & siderods.
Tonight I'm going to take apart the parts loco I put together with all the spare parts so I wouldnt loose anything and to try and get better at taking these loco's apart and being able to put them back together lol anyway Im going to see if I cant get the valve gear & siderods off along with the wood type cab, going to renumber the locomotive to 180 when im done so it can fit in with the other 3 D&RGW 4-6-0 loco's Bachmann has (177-179)
Sorry about the same ole photo Ill get a new one once I get a little more work done! I figured out how to remove the annie pilot from the parts loco and its back on 445 along with a headlight visor. Plow is back on 179
Also could anyone recommend a good way to give my tender wheels white walls like the loco or a good way to remove/paint over them on the loco's wheels with black
progress!
Lookin' good....
Les
So I got it all done this morning before going to bed, not all the valve gear made the switch but it runs fine and looks the way I want it to... need to get some spacers for the middle one plus it kinda sucks I had to reuse the plastic pegs that hold the siderod's on as the holes are not threaded... oh well not that noticable
Need to stop at Hobby Lobby and pickup some paint for the cab and get to work on that, I already have Decals to use from Microscale
last picture is of the front of the loco to show the pilot I have on it now
Great job ash,
One thing I would recomend is going to your local coffee shop and jack all the thin stir sticks and hot glue them to the inside of the cab so ity looks like it has wood paneling like the real ones. The Aniversery I bought hit the torch not too long ago and is in the process of being modernized into a Pacific, with the fowling modifications: Risto Rogers rear bogie, move cab asembly (an dietail parts) back, new floor, shortended tender, batteries an RCS, paint. At the moment i need styrene or a similar materal.
Cool idea! I was wanting to do somthing with the inside, that would make it look alot nicer with paint I will have to give it a try! Ill look at Hobby Lobby when I stop there in the morning for paint... Also want to try making another spark arrestor
More progress
Done I guess!
Im not sure why I picked 175 insted of keeping on with the fake numbers like Bachmann did with 178 and 179 out of all of the D&RGW T12's (166-177) 175 and 174 were the last two to get Dismantled err well two were preserved 168 in Colorado Springs and 169 in Alamosa... oh well I dont know... 175... a good all odd number...One... Seven and ofcorse Five...

No clubs i know of though i havent really looked so i dont know lol its not really done done yet anyway just the cab! I still some more detailing a little painting and alot to do to the tender it hasnt had anything done to it yet i want to do some detailing to it and add a real coal load now that i actually have some from Durango & Silverton and Cumbres & Toltec and last few days I have really been thinking about redoing the tenders decals to the older lettering with the herald, idk though can decals come out over rivits?
What are you doing to your loco?
SNOWSHOE
that sucks about your gears do you know what caused it? how are the grades on your layout? what kind of modifications do you plan on doing to it
Added an LGB Ridgway spark arrestor it just clicks in place ontop of the stack and holds pretty good, I will probably end up using it on RGS 25 aswell
These are my favorite type of spark arrestor
Couple new photo's of work done to 175 plus a few of the Bachmann D&RGW coaches I have been working on, repainted all of the silver trim, painted the marker light lense's green, finally got sick of the white wall's and painted those too... oh yeah the ozark number board on the front and rerailers on the tender are new too
Keep in mind the tender pictured will be going with a diffrent loco whenever I get the time to actually do 175's tender. The tender that will be going with 175 is from a undecorated annie and is mint im going to do the older style lettering with the moffat herald
You have come along, since you first started posting, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. Are you planting some track in the backyard yet???
Dave
The head is gray, hands don't work , back is weak, legs give out, eyes are gone, money go's and my wife still love's Me.
Nope... I still need R3 switches with euro ties. LGB/PIKO/ARISTO needs to hurry up and come back out with them already before I loose interest! I still have track down in my living room, though its a kind of whacky track plan my 3yr old nephew came up with after we took the christmas tree down using mostly R1-R2 so my K27 and RGS stuff has been gathering dust for a good 4-5 months now
Here are a few pic's of the Alamosa car while I was working on it a while back. Most of the parts I used were from Ozark, I used loco pilot steps for the fold up steps like what the D&SNG has on there coaches, the trucks are LGB with USA wheels and the color of the roof is Bright Platinum a Plymouth auto color from Testors I like it because from diffrent angles it looks anywhere from silver to dark grey. I used spray on model car window tint to darken the orangish-red celestory windows.

Tender is finally getting done! Got it off ebay its from a LGB Mogul, it was green lettered in gold for South Park. I used Superclean to remove the decals and painted it black, decals are intended for a C16 and there made by Microscale. I switched the botom with that of a C&S styled Lake George & Boulder LGB tender because I wanted the rerailers on this one and not on the other one. Still need to add a coal load and paint some silver trim and do some more detailing
