Stomper

  Just saw an article on Making a whimsical vehicle to run on large scale track from a battery powered toy truck.  The rubber tires are replaced with "G" scale train wheels.  The brand was   " STOMPER" but other brands are available. Have any of you tried this? if so , any tips.  They are supposed to run an hour on one AA battery.   The bodies are not to scale, but you could build your own body.  Jerry

I used the stomper base from a 1:20 perspective and built a light inspection car.

It goes a little too fast for my taste, but it is fun.

Nice job on the inspection car. Was reluctant to spend much time on a body suspecting that because of the low cost, it wouldn't run very long . I am working on a "New Bright" 4x4 which also runs on 1 aa. I got the wheels on & it runs... Unlike the stomper The axles were smaller than the train wheel axles. Had to open them up, press in a piepe of alum. tube & drill it open for a press fit.  Jerry

There use to be a group called "ARE YOU NUTS".

They would kit bash anything into something.

I do not know if they are still in circulation.

They were a great bunch of G scale dreamers and creators.
