Hi there,

Just finished our first loop on our outdoor layout a couple of weeks ago, and posted this video of my RhB [mostly] Passenger Train...

Hope you enjoy it!

WOW!!

That's a lot of track and a beautiful setting.  How much track do you have down?  What type of power are you using?  What are your future plans?

Hi Rex,

Thanks for the compliment!  The outside loop is about 260-270' of track, best I can figure it.  The parallel inside loop (which is ~40% complete) will clock in around 230-240' of track, since it's going to be tighter turns all the way around.

I'm using an NCE DCC system, with a Wireless Command Station, Wireless CAB, and a 10A booster.  Eventually, the switch yard, the parking yard, and the inside loop will all be on dedicated boosters.  For now though, I'm just getting this rolling, so there isn't a lot of multi consist action to warrant the isolated sections.   I laid the power down with feeders every 20-30', and I'm having no voltage or DCC signal issues.  It's been a real treat to run the system with a wireless remote.

In the near future I have a double-track "Hellsgate" bridge coming from Eagle Wings Ironcraft -- that will go where the plain metal plank is now.  There will be a water feature in the middle of the layout, and a descending spiral track that runs through a cut in the hillside, behind the water feature, to a parking yard and train barn by the side of the house.

Just one drawback to what I see:  Your "people" are not scale!  (just kidding)  Nice large empire you have under construction.  Thanks for sharing and looking forward to seeing another run when the inside line is complete.

Hey guys and gals: he has a seven minute run out there as well.  Runs in the opposite direction giving a different prospective to his layout.

Sean:  I'm very glad to see that your kids also enjoy the layout.

How did you get a Federal Grant to purchase all that right of way and track? I'm watching my layout construction dollars rise as fast as the cost of a tank of gas! Looks good now and I bet it will be great when finished.
