That's only kind of true about Aristo two axle diesel trucks. The trucks have two set of leads coming from them. One is the power leads from the wheels the other is the power to the motor. If you wire up the two together the truck will run on its own on track power. The replacement trucks come with sideframes (ALCO style) and a mounting yoke.
