On posting 'avatars' aka 'Mug Shots'
Posted by hoofe116 on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 4:38 PM

First, I'm from the generation that understands the meaning of 'avatars' in a wholly different way.

Okay, I'm outdated: One of you Bright Sparks posted a site called 'Quick 'n Simple for Old Guys 'n Stuff' or something. It formatted one's pixes for whatever site one elected to send them to.

I've read the song 'n dance number listed on this site and don't understand most of it. Okay, I don't understand any of it. I could list the reasons I don't, but it'd make dull reading. They could be condensed into 'huh?'.

Help? Please?

Les W. (who was born before dictionarys included 'computer'.

I can't help you Les. I have tried half a dozen times to load up my avatar pic here and it doesn't work. Same avatar pic I'm using on 6 other forums.

Here is mine if I could get it to load -

A shot my wife took of me and the pooch doing yard work on the B21. He loves to ride in the tractor. Its not a good shot of me but it makes me laugh.

Les:

I just put a reduced size pic on my web site library.  I used Paint Shop Pro 9 to change the size.  I opened both the "control Library page" of my website and the "update Profile" area here.  I opened my pic in my library went up to the "navigation bar" and copied the address.  Then to the avatar part of the profile page and "pasted" the address into the form and it worked.

Age?  Well lets just say that when I was in high school, gas cost twelve cents a gallon, and that was for "Ethyl".   most of todays youngeters do not understand Ethyl.

Ttrig: Y're ahead of me: by time I was having to pay my own (the day I got my driver's license) it was 19.9, but luck would get you a couple cents under. That was for Regular.

I read your post carefully. I don't get nary any of it. BUT... I'll have one of the kids come over tomorrow and read it ... who knows? If they can't load up my mugshot, I bet my granddaughter can! Thanks for the input.
