Just for the record, there is no such thing as a "PA-B"
there is the Alco PA (A-unit)
and the Alco PB (B-unit)
thanks,
Scot
Yep, the onboard TE cannot handle the current a PA or PB unit takes. Take an aristo trackside TE if you want to control, but then you are back at 27 MHz, your onboard is probably a 75 MHz.
I have 2 PB's, USAT always made the B units.
You could only buy them as part of an AB set, you can buy an AB or an A but not just a B.

I beleive the 3 amp limit of the on board train engineer is too low for the USA PA series of engines.
I have a friend that found the ABBA unit would not run on the 10 amp TE and he had to go with a 25 amp track powered supply to run these engines.

I did not install one into the B unit.
Thanks

OK I'm not a rivet counter BUT where did you get a PB from? Did USA trains start making them?
Dave
The head is gray, hands don't work , back is weak, legs give out, eyes are gone, money go's and my wife still love's Me.
I have the onboard TE mini board that plugs into a DCC board or can be hard wired to the engine, and have it in an aristocraft enigne and it works fine with the 10 amp power supply. I got 2 more to install into the A and b units, but the a unit overloads the power supply. I did not install one into the B unit.
Can you give more details?
are you talking about the older mini 3 amp on board TE, or the track side 10 amp TE?
I run 3 Macs with the track side in a trailing car w/o problems
Is it REAL? or Just 1:29 scale?
Long live Outdoor Model Railroading.
I got the usa trains PA-B units and tried to install the TE board in the A unit and when I turn my 10 amp power on the breaker trips. I need some help with this one...Any ideas? I disconnected the wires from the USA baord and connected them to the TE using the diagram provided by Aristocraft.
