Where can I find Crusher Finings

If you are in Pennsylvania, check with Karl Richenbach, He comes across the border from MD, and buys the best ballast I have ever seen. It is the gravel they use to make concrete blocks.  Fantastic ballast.

   I live in Phoenixville and know of a place to get them real cheap. Right on Rt 29 near the intersection of Morehall Road, State Rd, and Charlestown Road, there is a quarry, Independence Construction Materials, that sells them.

Here are the directions from Rt 30...

 Turn onto Morehall Rd (Rt 29) from Rt 30. follow Morehall Rd until you come to the intersection where Rt 29 makes a right (State Rd). Make a right onto Rt 29 (State Rd) and go 1/4 mile and the quarry is on your right. Last time I checked, they were selling crusher fines for about $7 or $8 a ton.

1.   Try the quarry at Glen Mills if it's still in business (I moved away in '75)

2.   Better idea if for track ballast, try using the course aggregate they use to make cement block out of.  Your nearest block plant should be able to sell you some by the bucket, bag, or pickup load.   Makes really great ballast.

3   Stone yard or dealer may have something for you. I bought 5 tons of 1/4 minus 5 years ago and am still working on that pile.   (will use block aggregate next time I have to buy some)

Sorry, I don't Chester county phone book handy, but try under garden supply. If you don't have a pick-up ask if they sell by the bag. Bag's are about 80-90 lb's. BTW I had house in Delaware County once. Still shop at Nicholas Smith when I visit family in Philadelphia.

My wife and I prepared the land for our railway in the fall.  So with Spring coming, we want to lay the track.  My question is where can I find crusher finings.  I live in Chester County, PA.  Does anyone know of a specific source?  I probably only need a half ton.
