OH MY, what a burn for LGBoA!
Will Walthers once again be selling LGB exclusivly?, If so, I can kiss it goodbye once again, that means FULL MSRP, no exceptions. What happens to no secondary outlets like the mailorder companies? No more discount suppliers?
Rocketing back to the 80's
Have fun with your trains

Echoing Vic's thoughts! Sure they will keep LGB free of Walthers? Will I ever see a track cleaning car go under 400.00??? There is always something going on in the bushes!!! Cryn shame!!!

As I said on MLS I bet theres a lot of email flying back and forth with germieland trying to get something official about whats included in this deal.
With no US profile large scale in their 2008 catalog and its still unknown whether anything, even Germie stock, will be imported to the US this year, again, does this agreement still include large scale or is it effectively only related to HO N and Z?
As LGB is part of Marklin, Trix is also part of Marklin but run as a seperate company, same with LGB, without a specific name mention in the the release, does that mean LGB could still end up with a seperate distribution deal? I severely doubt it, why go to all the trouble of having two seperate distribution and repair contracts?
So I think this deal must be inclusive of the whole enchillada, onions included.
Rene, have you heard anything further on your end?
Vic,
Man I hear yeah. If I was Mar-klin I would only do 1 not 2. Makes whole lot more since.
But then there is only 2 trains I want from LGB now, I just have bad taste in my mouth and I use LGB turnouts.
Thanks Rene
Toad, dont know what to tell ya, I might say get'em now, while you still can, but we really dont know whats going to happen, it may be that Marklin will resume shipping later this year, may be their current catalog is all there is for the next couple years.
Switches and track will always be avalable on Evilbay, but engines and rolling stock? Thats anyones guess.

If this happens, there goes LGB. Will we be held hostage to Walthers' politics and their dealers (aka full MSRP price LHSs) just as some modelers are in the smaller scales? I'm glad I got their Porter and Forney before this proposed unfortunate move. I hope Bachmann does not go this way.
Whalthers has sale's don't they at least there ad's clam stuff is on sale.

You mean 20% off 400%.
I do buy American, but can not help the paint is from China. I have been chewn on it for last what 8 yrs, maybe thats why I cut my self!?
It is my understanding from a decent source that Track is coming first from LGB as that is the most requested item.
Then they will make European rolling stock, followed by American rolling stock at the end of summer.
So, hurry up and wait!!!.

GearDrivenSteam wrote:Rene, the only question I have is, how do you get them two little dot thingies over the "A" in Marklin?
Easy. press Alt, then enter 0228 on the numerical pad.
Hope that helps.

PS if you go to CharacterMap in the Win OS it will give you all the other "unusual" letters.
You could copy/paste ä I did. Märklin .....

That would leave the "Ä", "Ö", "ö", "Ü","ü" quandry.

I read in the Feb. Issue of a magazine called "Garden Railways" that said that Marklin and LGBOA had signed a contract for the LGB line in America. Was this a bad report??
Or is everyone just reading between the lines and trying to fuel a fire that doesn't exist??

Hello,
On the News page of a magazine called Gartenbahn Profi, it was reported - as of Jan 29, 2008 - that the old agreement had expired at end of 2007 and a new one was yet to be signed. Märklin had no comment on details, until such time as an agreement was signed.
Hope that helps

Best we can determine is that this was an interim agreement, related to the LGB product line only, and not a permanent long term agreement, that agreement is yet to be announced and may or may not be in the works, depending on your sources. Its still all very much up in the air.
This Walthers deal seams to more related to N HO and Z Marklin products, as Marklin a has indicated they have no plans to import G to the US for the time being. It will be very interesting to see what happens later this year.
kinda hard to export stuff if it isn't being made! once the factory/manufacturing facilities are squared away, there should be more supplies, I can't believe that Marklin won't get products here eventually. Hopefully PIKO's new asian manufacturing plant means that they are going to expand and try to take over the lgb void in the market
If they're so overpriced, how do they manage to stay in business? Hmmmm, maybe that's why LGB finally had to fold up their tent. Anyway, customers usually vote with their wallets so we'll see if Walthers will be able to market LBG at MSRP levels, I doubt it.
