Does any one by any chance have the instruction sheet for the USA Trains Work Train Power and Light Car?  I sure could use a copy.  I'm a day late and a dollar short again in planning.  Bought it many months ago and finally got around to opening it up to put all the ladder rungs and things on it.  Thats another one of my pet peeves.  If I want to buy and assemble a car or engine I'll buy a kit.  Buying their products makes you assemble the final stages with out any choice.  Anyway, I can't figure out what the toggle switch is suppossed to do but bring on the noisy generator and I sure can't get the light to work even on hot tracks.  Seems their crew in China left out the instruction sheet from the box.  Any help appreciated!

I too am a dollar late, I have one still in the box never opened, Present from my wife. It's at the Reno house. We were there yesterday, going back in two weeks if you can wait that long I will FAX you a copy. the swtich is for the Generator sounds and it takes a 9V battery Im mot sure on the light may use battery power. E-mail me your FAX number if you have one.

I gave up on trying to get the lights and sound to work properly. I decided to completely rewire the entire car to make it all run off of track power. I used LGB wheels (yes, they are hard to come by) and put in two 12 volt bulbs. I must say that I am very disappointed with the sound. I am not expecting Pheonix quality, but I can't stand that sound. I just got rid of it. It is really not noticeable outside, especially if the locomotives have sound. I will look for the instructions but I think I got rid of them.

Thanks for the help guys!  I saw a couple of the LGB wheels on ebay today and they were really sky high in the bidding.  All the toggle switch on my car does is shut the sound off and on when off the tracks. When I'm on cold track the switch does not do anything and the sound stays on and on my car it will wake the dead.  That is one awful noise.  Looking at the pictures and reading your replies I just got an idea.  Scrap the power and light car theme, yank out the generator and send a couple of the ladies from my Playmobil Pleasure Express Car to work the work train in the now Work Train Rest Car.  Has to be a hit with the Worktrain crews on those long jobs Smile [:)]

Rudy, I found my P & L car in the garage water damaged box from one of our three floods last year ( long story ) no instrushions but on the end of the box it said " To operate without track power a 9 volt battery is required. ( Battery not included ) " Mine worked and yes the sound is bad and the lights came on dim and flickering to the beat of the generator noise. I will still look at Reno house for the instrushions if still want them.

If you happen to run across them fine.  What the end of your box says might be all the instructions there is.  I don't see it on my box but it kind of explains part of my problem.  When I had it off the tracks the toggle switch brought the generator on and off.  When I put it on the hot tracks the switch would not shut it off.  Sort of getting juice from two sources at the same time and whats odd is mine came with the battery installed.  I need to check the light though as I saw not even a flicker out of it.  Maybe they sold me a used unit .

If the workers are not happy with the Rest Car they can always sneak into Camp Wilson where there has been some unusual activity going on since the National Guard came in for training before deploying to Iraq.

They sold you a used or display unit, remind's me of a " new " tv  I got from FRY'S, battery's in the remote and a set of 4 casters for a TV stand in the bottem of the box.

Goes back to my being a day late and a dollar short for not checking the car when I first got it. Not the first problem I had with this vendor so I should have learned already.  I expect a certain amount of duds when I buy on ebay but naively I expect the online companies to be up to par.  There aren't any stores in the Monterey area that deal in G gauge so myself and the few G gaugers in this area have to buy on line or travel to buy.  Maybe this time I'll learn to check the merchandise as I receive it.  Man, I can remember when I was a kid and even say 15 years ago when there were hobby shops all over the place that sold and even repaired trains.  Now if I need a major repair done thats beyond my level I end up sending it back east for fixing.  I've had one diesal out for repairs now for 2 and a half months because the repair people in Florida are still waiting for parts from Aristrocrat.  It's time for the tide to turn and bring back large interest in trains.  When I was a kid every toy store had Lionel layouts set up for us kids to drool over.  In Monterey the store that I did a lot of drooling in when I was in junior high school in the fifties has been a porno shop for years now and where they had the Lionel layout is now filled with those 25 cent short movie booths.  I think I'll leave it at that Sign - Oops [#oops]
