Soulman,

Thanks for the tip.  They have a ton of stuff.  I went through their catalog and did find some 1:24 scale fire engines.  They were the same ones I had been seeing for about $50 each.  I need two so that's $100.  I only spent a couple fence boards and the plans so have less than $20 total invested in the fire station.  My plan is to be heavily involved with kids playing with the trains so I'm looking for something cheap and replacable when it breaks.

I heading out to the big swap meet today to see what they have.  Will let you know.

Rex:

Good looking barn!

As far as fire engines, try Past Time Hobbies in Brookfield, IL. (pthinc.com). I have bought many die cast items from them; LARGE selection, great prices, great service. I bet they could come up with something you could use.

Let me know if you find anything.

OK, now you've gone and done it!  Thanks much for getting my wife mad at me!  Now she wants me to build the same.  Except she has already printed a copy of the photo and put in her desired "small" changes.

Nice job.  When I build my wife's version of your barn I throw in a pic.  She wants to know why you didn't just put shingles on the roof.

Hahahaha you need some hooch? Got plenty!!!!

The barn in my head that is pretty much the one on my Dad's ranch in SW Oregon has an AL roof hence no shingles for this building.  Look forward to seeing yours.

I decided to build a barn but couldn't find any plans I liked so I designed my own.  I've got some roof sheets ordered so once those come it I'll have another building done.  The gates swing on Silicon II sealant hinges.  Two days and two fence boards is not bad although the roof will cost about $30.

Also I finally found some miniture light bulbs for about a buck each (Miniatronics) so when they come in I'll finish building the street lamps.

Oh and I'm still on the hunt for fire engines.
