How was your Christmas?
Posted by Mr_Ash on Tuesday, December 25, 2007 9:13 PM

Im at work now just starting my 12hr overnight shift wee.... I woke up at 7:30 am this morning to a kid jumping on me (my sisters kids slept over) wanting to open gifts lol it took everyone else a few more hours to get up but by that time me and the kid had the fireplace going and a bunch of eggs and ham cooked couldnt exactly just go back to sleep with him up so whatever it sucked I had a hangover too and only slept a few hours because I was up late playing Trainz 06 err messing with the train under the tree err I mean cleaning the living room! Whistling [:-^]

Once we got all the gifts sorted out and the tracks were clear again (Santa must have brought more after I passed out on the sofa Tongue [:P] ) I started running my Bachmann Durango & Silverton train on the LGB R2 circle I had setup around the tree (tomany gifts for R1 lol) running Engine 177 with D&S Box car & Alamosa parlor car. Ran it with smoke too bah that stuff is messy and I sewar I could get better smoke effect if I just stuck a cigarette down the stack lol but it was fun. My sisters kid got some time with teh controls too and didnt just keep hitting the reverse button (aristo basic train engineer) lol good times I think someone took some pictures of me supervising arg Dead [xx(]

After everyone left I spent a hour or so cleaning and oiling 177 and 179. I havent run 179 in about a month or so its just been sitting ontop of the fireplace gathering dust, I ran it tonight for a bit and it still runs smoother and quieter at low speeds than 177 Dead [xx(] oh well thats why I use 177 more and 179 sits up on my fireplace all spiffy with its Ozark parts lol

All I got for christmas is a brass pocket watch my sister got me, its got a steam engine looks like a 4-4-0 engraved on it. kinda nice, was bummed nobody got me a fricken bowler hat! The only thing I asked for Dead [xx(] The watch is cool though so its all good!

Oh yeah I got a few OT checks this month so I'm going to Order the Bachmann K-27 #464

Merry christmas to me Whistling [:-^]

Merry Christmas Mr Ash,

I am sorry that you have to work Christmas evening.

My wife got me three LGB 30700 RB 2nd class passenger cars and two lgb 30710 2nd class combines.  They look sharp.

Pocket watches are very nice.  Post a picture if you have time.

Regards,

Chuck

How was Christmas? ehh...

All I got was a couple of things for around house, a bottle of wine (that I dont drink) and a DVD set.

One thing train related I did get, was off Ebay. I won a brand new Accucraft San Francisco cable car, for a very good price, well lets see how it looks when it arrives...I have wanted one  of these since they first came out and since I cannot afford a $775 Missouri Loco Work "Gypsy", I'll settle for this little jewel.

   Have fun with your trains

What's wrong with a bowler hat?

It certainly worked for Mr. Steed seen here with yummy Mrs. Peel

Heavens, man, while it was a perfect choice to illustrate the bowler, these kids today haven't the faintest idea who Mr. Steed was let alone the beautiful Mrs. Peel!  (and that was on tv not too long ago!)

Sorry to hear that Toad.

Mine was the BEST ever.  My 19 y.o. son asked what to get his mom.  I told him to ask his siblings if they all wanted to go in together on a Nitendo DS system with the Brain building/exercising game.  They decided it was pricey so I insisted to help them out.

The 19 y.o. later asked me what they could get me.  Since I already had to help them out with mom's, I said to not worry about it.  But I DID tell him to atleast get me a card and it better be a Halmark. Ha!

Christmas day rolls around, he comes over and plays Santa by passing out the gifts.  He hands them out and hands me a card and tells me, "open this last".

I got an Air Hogs remote control helicopter set and many tools etc. etc.  I get to the card from my son; could barely get through the card without choking up.  I get to the 5 page letter he had written me and totally lost it.  He told me how much I meant to him, he enjoyed "life lessons" with me, hunting, fishing.  He then proceeded to tell me about hiss most favorite memories etc.

Needless to say, I was teary eyed/cried through the whole thing. Ha!  That letter meant more to me than the most expensive gift.  I, my friends, are truly Blessed.  Barry

That's too bad, Toad.

Ours was thin, but happy. Both me and Wife's car got sick in mid-December. Gettin' the car fixed cost more, tho. (They said I wasn't worth what it'd take to fix me up.) Tongue [:P]

But I finally started working on the Pig River RR. I'm building a stationary power plant out of an Echo boiler & cab. Soon's I get the lathe downstairs I'll make some turnings and try to duplicate the rope-belt that was used early on to drive the line shafting.
