I picked up a couple of used Scientific trains for the grandkids - G scale so they can run them on my layout.
Does anyone know how to fix the headlight? I'm anxious about getting the loco apart not knowing what is glued versus hidden clips. Two screws allow removing the shroud over the light, but it doesn't appear to pull out. The solution may be to take the body off. Removing the 4 screws that hold the cab on makes the boiler loose but I can't figure out how the front boiler cover is supposed to come apart.
Anyone ever fooled with these - or know if there are support folks? One model I have appears to still be actively marketed but I haven't had any luck googling for the manufacturer.
Thanks, Bob

The bulb didn't look like anything I could easily find so I solved the problem with a super bright LED and resister. Plus, I win carbon footprint points with Al Gore for not using incandescent. Only problem with the LEDs is some of them give off a blueish cast.
If anyone needs to get one of these apart to access the board or headlight/smoke unit, take off the cow catcher and front truck, remove the 4 screws under the cab, take the cab off (lift up), remove the engine number sticker on the front of the boiler, take out the screw under it, and the boiler unit comes off. When re-assembling, be careful the bell switch is in the same position as when removed so it mates up with the slide switch underneath.
