Lyctus,

You most likely have the original 27 mHz model. I recently picked one up and promptly ripped it apart and mounted in a box car with big battery pack for a trailer battery/rc car. Those enhancements they spoke of are probably accessory and switch controller receivers. They enable you to turn on and off building lights, sounds, control switches hooked up to electric motors, etc. All controlled with the TE transmitter.

New Jersey Fox, I purchased a Train Engineer some 9 years ago for a then existant GR in a previous abode, but did not use it. I have just taken it out of the deep and magical train stuff cupboard and activated it. I am quite pleased with it. Gives great control from the comfort of my patio table. It does state on the instruction leaflet that enhancements to operation will be coming along.... so some redundant buttons may come into play...does any-one know if these enhancements were activated ? I have been a bit out of 'GR country'  for some time and may have missed the news !
Geoff I wish I was better trained.

Having looked at Aristo`s reply why would any respectful G gauge user want to reverse a train from forward direction to reverse with out slowing it down the unit in use now as a delay of 10 seconds before direction change. so NO stripped gears

Possibly out in the spring. Aristo had started with a new 900mHz system and switched to a 2.4 gHz system which is still in development as said by the head honcho http://www.aristocraft.com/vbulletinforums/showthread.php?t=10321.

New Train Enginer out in Spring of 2008?
Posted by New Jersey Fox on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 9:53 PM

I was talking to a tech at St. Aubins today and he mentioned that Aristocraft was coming out with a new Train Engineer in the spring of 2008. It was going to work on a new frequency. I'm just getting started in garden railroading and wanted to use the Train Engineer system. Does anyone know about this new frequency and what the pricing may be?

Thanks!
