I have the C&S beartrap loco #7 with snow plow.

This unit has the sound and speaker in the tender, but the sound will not work unless the cable is plugged into the engine as it needs to sense the chuff sensor built into the engine rear axle.

I also have the MTS/COKE mogul and this unit has the sound card in the engine, speaker only in the tender.

So, we need to know the exact mogul model to assist you in your question as LGB through the years changed how they did some of the sound/mts add-ins on locos.

PS, the newest sound tender 69232 will not work without a special rewiring as it is cabled for the little 2-4-0 engine only, the sound control switch is in the engine.

Did you have different cables to try the 2 tenders?

A broken wire in a cable can cause problems also.

Did you try your new tender with the engine you borrowed the other tender from.

This will tell us your newly acquired tender has sound and the problem is with the engine/cable.

I recently bought a used C&S Mogul with the snow plow and bear trap on EBAY. But it came with A DSP&PRR sound tender. The sound didn"t work. Does the tender have to match the C&S Mogul to work? I figured that LGB just used the same sound for each road name? I also ran it for a while to warm up the diode to power the sound and that didn"t work either. Then I attached another LGB sound tender that I know works and it didn"t work either?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
