I've had great luck with brake fluid. There are not many plastics that it will react with at ALL, because there are plastics and rubbers of all kinds in brake systems. If in doubt, just test a small spot. It's also water soluable, so it's a snap to clean up.

Probably depends on the paint and the alcohol. When I was looking for something to remove the lettering from a Bachmann loco, I tried denatured alcohol. It didn't touch the lettering, but the paint came off on the Q-tip that was soaked in alcohol. Since I had no need to actually strip the paint, I opted against the alcohol, but I suppose after a short while (minutes? hours?) it might strip it, especially since it came off just by rubbing it.

The stuff I ultimately used to remove the lettering ("Super Clean" degreaser) took about 15 minutes to loosen the paint, and then it wiped right off.

Later,

K

Eric's Alcohol ?

I see Eric O. posted a tray to strip cars of paint.

How many years does it take to remove the paint using alcohol?

Has he tested it on all makes of car paints?

Is it REAL? or Just 1:29 scale?

Long live Outdoor Model Railroading.
