Don Winter passed away on September 10, 2007 after a long illness. Don was a pioneer manufacturer in our hobby. In the late 1970s and early 1980s he produced what was probably the first line of 1:22.5-scale rolling-stock kits in wood and white-metal castings. He left the hobby for a long time, but came back to it in recent years, again producing craftsman-style kits in 1:20.3 scale. Don also published one of the very first large-scale magazines, the 1:22.5 Scale Digest. He will be missed by the hobby and his friends.
