Smaller Wheel sets
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 10:34 PM

Well have a project and the wheels on it now are plastic and my collection of wheel sets are all LGB but are way to tall for my use.

Have others not so big?

Thank you,

Toad

Smaller than what?

Sizes you are looking for would be good.

Bachmann sells 24.5mm (just under 1") dia. wheels which may work for you. Otherwise, try Sierra Valley. They've got wheels in myriad sizes. There are others, too, who advertise in GR.

After I went to bed I had a flash of light reminding me of Bmans 24.5 as you stated, will pick some of those up and if they no worky will go to Sierra. (they need to have a shopping cart check out IMHO)

I have a list of stuff I buy at night when things are quiet on the net and when they only have a phone # or smail makes buyn in the day time abit more stressful, or I could be just to full of it?

Just for the record not everyone owns LGB or knows what size their wheels are. Shock [:O]

You can look at Hartland Loco Works they have some tiny wheels (pilot wheels for the 4-4-0) and some other sizes.  Also check out Ozark Miniatures they have some spoked wheels available plus they sell seirra valley wheels and have a shopping cart order system. you'll have to know what seirra valley wheels you are looking for since they don't have pictures of the wheels but that's not all that bad.

LGB has FRR wheels that are very small.  I converted my cars from plastic to metal FRR wheels.  I still have the plastic wheels/axles as a load.

Jay-Bee had some the same size if you can locate them, and they had sleeve bushings with electrical pickups.  I installed these on my Toytrain tenders for extra power pickup and they work wonders.
