Expensive, just looked at some at a show today, One of the 4 foot curve switches was $65.00 and change, I use Aristo's stainless steel track myself, if the LGB track performs similar to the "O" scale MTH Realtrax, it too is nickle silver, you'll still have to clean it a good bit, if you plan to run track power.
"Personally", I'd go the stainless route. My LGB track cleaning engine is pretty much a yard relic any more, since I use the Stainless track now....Hold on now though, I don't wanna sell it, just yet everyone...it's nice to just turn'em on and go.
But to each his own, you'll probably get alot of personal opinions on this track question....

1) In short supply because it's no longer being made. Probably will not be made again unless whoever ends up with LGB's assets decides to start making it again. (Not a likely scenario.)
2) Nickel plated, not solid nickel silver, and the plating has been shown to occasionally flake off. It will eventually wear off of the top surface through use. LGB even says not to use their own track cleaning loco on it. So, over time you'll be back to brass rail anyway.
Essentially not worth the trouble, and since it's no longer being made, not really an option for a cohesive track system. If you can get it at a good price, go for it, but I wouldn't pay a premium for it.
