Anyone else having trouble posting photos?

Ok, let's sort this out.

First of all, if you are on a PC, don't bother because most off them will work.

For Mac OS X users, Safari will not work, not Explorer or Firefox either. Try Netscape 7.1, that will work.

trains.com really need to do something about this. The forum have very bad Mac support. Nothing is wrong with the Mac browsers.

The old forum worked perfect for Mac users, with the same browsers that does not work now.

There are more problems as well. I can't quote, I can't post smileys, I can't use Firefox at all, not even write plain text and so on...

How do I know? I have been using Mac for 20 years, and I'm also a PC technician.

I am running a standard PC with Microsoft explorer and I'm having the exact same problem Ken is having.

It just did it to me for the first time. Let's see, I tried:

The trouble is (looking at the generated html), it started an image tag, but ended it with a </A> which ends a link, not an image.

Oh! You get this if you put in the url, THEN put the img tags. Put the opening img tag, then the url, then the closing tag, and it works.

Before I had pasted the URL and then put the tags on each end.  Why would the sequence that you typed the stuff make a difference?

Told ya, Kevin, Kalbach got the ECONOMY web package, they forgot that alot of us actually like to SHARE pics of what we do.....I'm sure the decision was made for all the right reasons ( $ ) as I said, its the one big 600 lb Gorilla of a foul-up no one at Kalmbach seams will ing to discuss, I've brought the issue up on both the MR and Trains forum, the reply was the sound of crickets chirping in an empty field...

It still doesn't work for me either.  I certainly would appreciate some insight from the website designer so it can be resolved.

The "techie" at our place figured out that it works well when using "Netscape 7.1" and acts up with the other browsers (OPERA and IE).

Annoying!

The "techie" was also puzzled why this happens with new forum software, he called it "unusual"! (but the spelling was different) ;-)

I found that I can also get around this picture posting problem by pasting the url into my Microsoft Word processing program, adding the image tags, then copying and pasting it here.

All I do is bring up the properties when I right click on a picture on my website and copy it Then I type [ img ] [ /img ] just like I did on the old forum . In between the brackets I paste the photo properties .

Mike, I tried your way and it works perfectly.  Thanks for the tip.  It is only when I paste in the url first and then add the image tags that I have the problem.

Okay, I've been told that Firefox on a Mac is the way to go for this web site, and while I'd much prefer Safari, since that's where all my bookmarks, etc. are, I'll have a go. At least it's not Internet Exploder.



Well, it seems to work. Good to know. Now, if they could just fix the Safari problem.
