Garden Railways in Hawaii?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, December 19, 2005 11:09 PM
Greetings from Japan.

My question: Are there any garden railways in Oahu, Hawaii?

I'm visiting Oahu soon and was wondering if anyone has a railway in the sunshine. My own 16mm narrow gauge railway is in it's infancy and I've the chance to take a peek at what someone else has done, if anyone is there.

Anyone with any info. please post a message.

Many thanks,

Matthew.

I think you're just ribbing us cold weather people about going to someplace warm! You can't plow snow in Hawaii!

Matthew,

There is a club in Hawaii: the Big Island G Scalers. Perhaps you can contact them.

Matthew,

Can you post some photos of your railway? We'd all love to see what you've done there in Japan.

May thanks for the advice.

I'd love to post some pics but I have no idea how. I checked out the FAQs but I still am unsure how to put a simple photo from my pc onto a message. Anyone done this and is willing to help?

Matthew.

[:)] Many thanks for the advice, I've read the mini guide which is very clear.

If it is okay I'll open a new topic with a few pics of 'The Daruma Line', that's my railway by the way.

Anyone interested, the topic will be: 'A Japanese Garden Railway'.

Merry Christmas, Matthew. [:D]

Here is a test pic:

At one point in time--mid-80s--we had a garden railway/Large Scale club on Oahu. I know, because I organized the club. Not sure what happened with the group after I moved to the mainland, but I imagine some of them are still around.

If you're going to be on Oahu, you really won't be anywhere near Hilo (on the Big Island), although it's just a plane ride away. However, some of the folks in the Hilo club would most likely know the Large Scalers on Oahu and the other islands. It is a pretty small state, and anyone who has lived there for a long while pretty much knows everyone else who shares a common interest.

Matthew
Just been looking at your superb achievements on your webiste, which is I think the only site I have ever read from cover to cover.
Congratulations on your inspirational approach to garden railroading which is a credit to you and our hobby.
Enjoy all you do on the Takasaki Light Railway and keep those wagons rolling!

Thanks Allan, I shall endeavour to make contact with your old club members and go from there.

Kind words indeed John. I shall be adding to the line's roster over the holidays and will try and put as many new pics on as I can.

Arigatou![bow], Matthew.
