Newbie!
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, November 27, 2005 7:08 PM
Please allow me to introduce myself!

A newbie to the trains.com forum but with over forty years of interest in the hobby of building and operating model railway equipment based upon the Southern Railway in England. [4mm, OO scale, running on HO track].

Now retired I have recently been introduced to the larger scale garden railroad scene by a group of volunteers who operate the Vines Garden Railroad near where I live.

Being reasonably confident in the field of ‘electricks‘, this is the area where I am attempting to keep the equipment running on over 1000 feet of 45 mm track at the V.G.R.

Now I can not tell the difference between a Shay and a Baldwin but, from what I have been able to see so far, this is the forum where I can obtain answers to some of the questions that I may have in the future.

Hi chuffed! Welcome aboard! Railroading in the garden is way different from anything you've ever done indoors. A lot of "rules" just don't apply. Freedom of expression and creativity are the order of the day. You are in for an uplifting and rewarding new direction in the hobby. Feel free to ask anything, no matter how simple it may seem. The answer may surprize, delight or entertain! Good luck and happy railroading!
