My favorite hobby sites, usually have a seperate forum specifically for out of topic converstations. I like those sites, because there's more of a feeling of a community. I'm making an assumption that when you get with your train friends in the world, that you do make "small talk" in addtion to talking trains. I've moved from NScale to LS. I used to visit 2 NScale sites. One I abonded upon the move. Why? Only NScale talk was allowed. I didn't abandon the other site. Why? Off topic conversation is encouraged. There's a lot of "friends" there. The "friendships" I have there transcend nscale and trains. Just my 2 bits.
