Hi macnamarajohn <br />[#welcome] <br />The question of grades is a tricky one. <br />If you plan on using live steam locomotives than as slight as possable is the answer just like the 12" =1' they don't like them add a curve on the grade and things can get real interesting real fast. <br />Iwould sugest kee ing grades as gentle as possable <br />Also avoid runing the train the same way all the time this introduces a wear problem on one side of the train and a few "S" bends can help with that. <br />All the problems on the full sized railways are the same for us in the garden. <br />regards John
