iPhone Gets Hacked
It seems the so-called "Jesus Phone" is not so perfect. According to a security consulting firm, the iPhone can easily be taken control of by hackers, leaving your personal information out in the open.
According to the Maryland-based firm Independent Security Evaluators, hackers can take over an iPhone if a user accesses a Web site designed by the hacker.
For example, an attacker can send an iPhone user an e-mail that says, "'Check this link out. It's great,'" Charles Miller, the firm's principal security analyst, told ABCNEWS.com.
If the user then clicks on the link to the site, the person controlling the site can access anything on the user's iPhone, including text messages, e-mails, phone numbers and address books. In other words, hackers can access "stuff you don't want people to know about," Miller said.
If hackers connect the server to a computer, as the security firm did, then they can download all of the information.
"People put all sorts of information on it. It's important that they work properly," Miller said of the phone. "That was our main motivation. We want to make sure we can feel safe and comfortable carrying them around."
Potentially, the method can also be used to send text messages and dial calls from the phone, although Miller said that Security Evaluators did not test for this capability specifically.
Public Wi-Fi a Concern
The firm began looking into potential security issues last Monday when the company's founder, Avi Rubin, was showing off his iPhone, Miller said.
"He gave us the proposition," Miller said. "'If you guys think you can do it.' He gave us a week and an iPhone to play with."
When the firm made the discovery last week, it called Apple to warn about the issue.
"They haven't said a whole lot to us," Miller said. "They basically acknowledged that they were looking into it."
Apple told ABCNews.com that the company is looking into the firm's report.
"We always welcome feedback on how to improve our security," said Lynn Fox, an Apple spokeswoman.
The security firm also found that the iPhone could also be hacked using a public Wi-Fi connection, for example at an airport or a coffee shop, if the hacker set up an additional wall between users and the connection.
"I can basically sit between you and the real Web server you're talking to," Miller said. If the user connects to any Web page, the hacker can take control of the iPhone and the owner's information.
Although the test was only for the iPhone, Miller said that if future Wi-Fi capable phones have similar flaws, they probably can be accessed in a similar way.

Sony Recalls 350,000 Digital Cameras
Sony is recalling 350,000 digital cameras because the case may warp, creating an edge that can cut or scratch the user's hands, the company said Thursday.
The company will replace the bottom casing, where the problem occurs, at no cost.
The recall affects 284,000 Cyber Shot DSC-T5 cameras sold in the United States, Europe and China, and about 66,000 sold in Japan, Sony spokeswoman Ryoko Takagi said.
Sony Corp. first learned of the problem affecting DSC-T5 cameras about one month after the model first went on the market in September 2005, Takagi said. About 30 customers in Japan and "several" others overseas have since reported finding the defect, with a number saying they received small cuts and scratches from it, she said.
Customers are advised to check the model and serial numbers of their cameras to see if they are among the affected products, the company said in a statement. The problem only affects cameras with numbers between 3500001 and 3574100.

I came this-close to owning a NASCAR 63, 427 Galaxie body, had a 289 Hypo engine in it at the time, with a complete glass front end and trunk lid.
I was also formerly married to Bill Franze Sr's niece, have a daughter between us, I ain't seen'em for over 30 years though.....

Yeah RustyG, those were the TRUE Roadsters, and that 427, you ever seen one, I mean the NASCAR 427.....
Than there was the SOHC 427, with it's 12/14 inch wide heads setting on top of that FE block, that thing was about 3 foot or so wide, double roller chained timing gears to each of the over-head camshafts, over 600 HP from the factory, I think it was in the 68 500CJ Machs.
Had a friend who used to work for a dealer in Philly, and when ever a 500CJ was in for service he'd go out on the interstate looking for the 427 Vettes an blow'em away.
Told me one time about racing one Vette and he lost it, did three complete Donuts in the middle of the highway, never hit a thing, than shook all the way back to the car lot and parked it. Didn't put a scratch on it though, said he never went looking again......
That was the fastest production street engine set up ever made by any manufacturer, wasn't anything else that could touch it.
Here's a few shots of it and some info, strait outt'a the original Ford Motor Companys Off Higway Parts manual, I was a Ford mechanic.....

U.S. Toymaker Names Chinese Company That Made 1 Million Toys Recalled Last Week
Mattel Inc. on Tuesday identified the Chinese vendor that made nearly 1 million Fisher-Price toys that were recalled last week because they may contain lead. Mattel said Lee Der Industrial Company Ltd., located in Guangdong province, made the 967,000 toys sold under the Fisher-Price brand in the United States between May and August. Last week, El Segundo-based Mattel recalled the plastic preschool toys, including popular Big Bird, Elmo, Dora and Diego characters, because they were made with paint found to have excessive amounts of lead. Mattel, the world's largest toy maker, apologized to customers for the recall and said the move would cut pretax operating income by $30 million. Mattel spokeswoman Jules Andres said Tuesday that all the toys that were recalled were made by the one vendor and that the company has "ceased accepting shipments from the facility." Mattel has shared the name of the vendor with competitors who may also be doing business with the Chinese company, Andres said. She said she did not know what other toys might have been made at the facility for other companies, but that the company felt it was important for competitors to have the information. "We do not consider safety to be a competitive advantage," she said. The Chinese vendor could not immediately be reached for comment. A man at a Lee Der Industrial Company in Guangdong province said it made cardboard boxes, not toys, while a woman who answered the phone at another number listed under the name said that company had gone bankrupt several years ago. The Fisher-Price recall is the latest in a string of problems involving products imported from China. In June, RC2 Corp. recalled 1.5 million wooden railroad toys and set parts from its Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway product line because of lead paint. Those toys were also made in China. Earlier this year, a Chinese-made pet food ingredient was linked to the deaths of cats and dogs in North America. Since then, Chinese goods ranging from toothpaste to tires have been banned or recalled in numerous countries.
