Hey Troy

Its a good start, keep us posted. You'll probably finish up before me, I'm so slow.[;)]

My Class A project is dragging in the mud right now, trying to cut away the bolsters on the undercarraige for the power truck but I am going thru a cutting disk every 5-10 minutes. Dam things keep breaking! [|(]

   Have fun with your trains

Hi Troy,

The top looks great. I never thought of soaking balsa wood in water so you can bend it.
What thickness is the balsa wood, and how long do you have to leave it in the water before you can start bending it?

I have a double decker tram trailer plan at home, but couldn't work out how I was going to bend the ends, so I've never started it. I just stick to the railway wagons that are easier shapes.

Also what are you going to use for the power bogies?
My bigest fear when building something is that I'm going to have to half wreck the top to get the wheels on, so I always start with the bottom half. Once I have the chassis running right, then I build the top. I've never seen the top done first.

Troy, I see you have lots to do, looks good. The part about being bored in winter,,ha!!!! I'm so behind with things to do on the RR, I hope to have some done by spring.
We just poured the pad for the newer grain elevator and sidings.

Is it REAL? or Just 1:29 scale?

Long live Outdoor Model Railroading.

Hi Troy,

Nice going, I didn't think anyone still used balsa, apart from the plane guys. I've always used styrene, but then again I've never bent it like you have for the tram ends. Do you weight it when it's finished or will you rely on the power bogies for that?, I suspect a double decker will act a bit like a sail when it's breezy.
Cheers,
Kim

Troy,
Looking good mate, important bit of the toolbox are garden shears. Totally off topic and speaking of shears,
A Yorkshireman had hold of a sheep and a Lancashire man passing asked him if the sheep was for shearing, The Yorkshire lad replied, "No! tha can get thee own"!!
Anyway, enough of that, keep the pictures coming. Try the following site for a very interesting tram shot http://www.gardentrains.co.uk go to 'train pictures' and then 'varieties of garden railways' and scroll down.
Cheers,
Kim

Strange enough, winter time is the best time to run down here. Our summers are like your winters, except that it's not cold and snowy, but D*mn hot and muggy [:O][[B)][xx(] In the end part of July this year it was sooo hot on my B-day(120 heat index) that I got the trains running and whated them on Tv with the mini video cam and looked out the window too [:(] But I have to say that when we were indoors, I have built (2) GP-20s, a phase 3 GP-9 and am just finishing a custom caboose [;)][:)][^]

Hello Ben.
I am using two Aristocraft ART-29356 motorised bogies. One of these should work well in your tram.
