My poor Lionel 4-4-2...............
Posted by magicman710 on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 1:16 PM

I was stupid enough to let my little 4-4-2 sit in neutral on full power with the smoke unit on with no smoke fuid. Yeah!! [yeah]   You cant imagine the smell it created. I had to take it outside it smelled so bad! Laugh [(-D]

I took the engine apart and dissconected the spade connecter attached to some screw, hoping it was the power wire for the generator, and turned it's switch to the off postition. Is it ok to run this engine now?

Thanks,

Grayson

Why not buy a new smoke unit and install it?

I probably will in the future, but right now I just want to get it back on the track.

It should be ok to run, I think you just roasted the smoke unit. Hey your not the first to do this so don't feel so bad. I think replacement smoke units are around $15 and easy to replace.

Smoke em if you got em. You should be able to run the loco with the smoke unit off.
