Hi Zeke!    Glad your Lackawanna is smoking again!  The Switch on the bottom of the Tender shuts off the Sound of Steam instead of disconnecting the tether between the engine & tender all the time & the whistle sound will still work when activated by a controller. There are tubes connected from the Smoke Generator to the steam chest to simulate steam coming from the Cylinders connected to the Rods on a Real Steam Engine. Take Care.

Hi Zeke!    Is this the Lackawanna 4-8-4 That Charlie gave you from 1988?  If so, They had no switch to turn on/off the Smoke Unit. Sounds like you may have overfilled it. Turn it upside down with a rag or paper towel under the Smoke Stack to let the Excess fluid Drain out. Then, try it out again & see how it smokes. Should be nothing too much wrong with it. Let us know what happens. Take Care.
