Train places to visit near Sesame Place (Langhorne, PA)

Strasburg would be the best place for trains.  Another good place for real locomotives is Scranton PA, Steamtown with a variety of steam locomotives, they even have one or two that run.   A little more on the east side of PA on I-78 is Roadside America in Shartlesville PA just west of Hamburg PA.

And just a little further up river, in Flemington the Black River & Western RR runs tours and regular service.  Some other fun stuff in Flemington to do also.

You should check out the New Hope Ivyland Railway.  It's about 16 miles/20 minutes from Sesame Place according to Google Maps.  Downtown New Hope is a artsy/touristy neighborhood on the banks of the Delaware river. www.newhopepa.com You will find more shopping and diversions right across the bridge in Lambertville, New Jersey.

Sesame Place is a great place to take kids! I took my kids two years in a row!I recomend breakfast with the characters.

Anyway, TRAINS!

You should take a ride over to Stasburg. It is about one hour to the west. It is very close to Lancaster.  In Strasburg, you have the Strasburg Railroad (great 45 minute excursion).

Also, The Choo Choo Barn. It's a 1,700 square foot miniature O guage layout of Lancaster county. It has more than 135 animated and automated figures and vehicles. (really, Really cool!)

And there is the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. It has over a hundred engines and rolling stock. (Really cool too!!)

Great vacation!! I want to go back. 

All of these attractions are within 10 min of each other!

Almost forgot the TCA toy train museum!!!!!!!!!!!!is right down the street from Choo Choo Barn!!

Hello all,

My wife and I will be taking my son to Sesame Place in Langhorne, PA this summer.  Can anyone suggest any train related museums or attractions near there?
